Ingredients
- 2 large egg whites (room temperature)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar (optional, for stability)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer
- Set your air fryer to 200°F (95°C) or the lowest setting available.
- Whip the Egg Whites
-
- In a clean, dry mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed using a hand or stand mixer until foamy.
- Add cream of tartar and salt.
- Increase speed to high and gradually add sugar, one spoonful at a time.
- Continue beating until stiff, glossy peaks form (this takes about 5-7 minutes).
- Mix in vanilla extract.
-
- Pipe or Spoon the Meringue
- Transfer the mixture into a piping bag (or use a spoon) and create small mounds or swirls on a parchment-lined air fryer basket.
- Leave space between each meringue for air circulation.
- Air Fry the Meringues
-
- Air fry at 200°F (95°C) for 60-90 minutes or until the meringues are dry and crisp.
- Check for doneness: They should easily lift off the parchment and feel light.
-
- Cool & Serve
- Let them cool completely before serving.
- Store in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
