Banana 🍌 Pudding 😋


  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3-4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 box (12 ounces) vanilla wafers
  • Whipped cream, for topping


  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, flour, and salt. Place the saucepan over medium heat and whisk until the mixture begins to thicken.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually pour about 1/2 cup of the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks while whisking continuously. This step is important to temper the eggs and prevent them from curdling.
  3. Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk mixture. Continue to cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens to a pudding consistency.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter until well combined. Let the pudding cool for a few minutes.
  5. In a serving dish or individual bowls, create layers of vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding. Start with a layer of wafers, followed by a layer of sliced bananas, and then spoon some pudding over the top. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap, making sure the wrap touches the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together and the pudding to set.
  7. Just before serving, remove the plastic wrap and garnish the pudding with whipped cream. You can also add some crushed vanilla wafers on top for added crunch and decoration.
