Crustless Pizza Bake

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey or lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (choose one with lower sugar content)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (turkey or beef pepperoni for a lighter option)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Cook the meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey or beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add vegetables: Add the chopped onion, diced bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are softened.
  4. Season: Season the meat and vegetables with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  5. Layer in the baking dish: Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Spread pizza sauce: Spoon the pizza sauce over the meat and vegetables, spreading it evenly.
  7. Add toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Add sliced black olives and pepperoni as desired.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are golden brown.
  9. Serve: Allow the crustless pizza bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
