Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground turkey or lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup pizza sauce (choose one with lower sugar content)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (turkey or beef pepperoni for a lighter option)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with cooking spray.
- Cook the meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey or beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add vegetables: Add the chopped onion, diced bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- Season: Season the meat and vegetables with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Layer in the baking dish: Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Spread pizza sauce: Spoon the pizza sauce over the meat and vegetables, spreading it evenly.
- Add toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top. Add sliced black olives and pepperoni as desired.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are golden brown.
- Serve: Allow the crustless pizza bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
