Ingredients:
For the Biscuits:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup whole milk
For the Garlic Butter Topping:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your hands to work the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Pour in the milk and mix until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix; just combine the ingredients until the dough comes together.
- Use a spoon or an ice cream scoop to drop portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each biscuit.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the biscuits are baking, prepare the garlic butter topping. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder.
- As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the garlic butter mixture over the tops of the biscuits. You can also sprinkle dried parsley flakes on top for extra flavor and color.
- Serve the garlic cheese biscuits warm and enjoy!
