Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Pickle slices, for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or similar casserole dish.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
    • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:
    • Lower the heat and stir in the tomato paste, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cream cheese, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika (if using). Mix well until the cream cheese is melted and everything is well combined.
  4. Assemble the Casserole:
    • Transfer the beef mixture to the prepared baking dish. Spread it out evenly.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  5. Bake:
    • Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
    • Garnish with pickle slices, chopped parsley, or green onions if desired.
    • Serve hot, and enjoy your cheeseburger casserole without the bun!
