Lasagna Bombs

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin.
  2. Cook Meat Sauce:
    • In a skillet, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Add diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is softened. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add Tomato Sauce:
    • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  4. Prepare Lasagna Noodles:
    • Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  5. Assemble Lasagna Bombs:
    • Lay out a lasagna noodle and spread a spoonful of ricotta cheese along its length. Add a spoonful of the meat sauce over the ricotta. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Form Bombs:
    • Roll the lasagna noodle into a cylinder and place it in a muffin cup, standing upright. Repeat for the remaining noodles.
  7. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired. Allow the lasagna bombs to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes:

  • You can customize the filling with additional ingredients like spinach, mushrooms, or diced tomatoes.
  • Feel free to use store-bought marinara sauce to save time.
  • Ensure that the lasagna bombs are cooled slightly before removing them from the muffin tin.
