For the Beef Filling:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Tacos:
- Corn or flour tortillas
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Salsa
- Sour cream
- Chopped cilantro (optional)
- Lime wedges (for serving)
Instructions:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for a few minutes until the onion is softened.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet, if necessary. Add the taco seasoning, salt, and pepper to the beef mixture. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Warm the tortillas according to the package instructions or your preference.
- Assemble the tacos by spooning the seasoned beef mixture onto the center of each tortilla.
- Top the beef with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, salsa, and a dollop of sour cream. Add chopped cilantro for extra freshness if desired.
- Squeeze a wedge of lime over the top of each taco for a burst of citrus flavor.
- Serve the tacos immediately and enjoy your homemade Mexican tacos!
