Sausage gravy breakfast pizza

Ingredients:

For the Pizza Crust:

  • 1 package (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough or store-bought pizza crust

For the Sausage Gravy:

  • 1/2 lb breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Toppings:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • Chopped green onions or chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven according to the pizza dough or crust instructions.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape. Transfer it to a pizza stone or a baking sheet.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through. Break it into crumbles as it cooks.
  4. Once the sausage is cooked, sprinkle the flour over it and stir to coat the sausage evenly.
  5. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens to a gravy consistency.
  6. Season the sausage gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
  7. Spread the sausage gravy evenly over the prepared pizza crust.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the gravy.
  9. Create small wells in the cheese and gravy mixture to crack the eggs into.
  10. Carefully crack the eggs into the wells.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven according to the pizza dough or crust instructions, or until the eggs are cooked to your liking and the crust is golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oven, and garnish with chopped green onions or chives if desired.
  13. Slice and serve your Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza warm.
