steak in air fryer
Ingredients:
- 2 steaks (preferably ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon), about 1 inch thick
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil or cooking spray
Instructions:
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
- Take the steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes. This helps them cook more evenly.
- Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps with searing.
- Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and pepper, or any other desired seasonings.
- Lightly coat the steaks with olive oil or spray them with cooking spray. This helps with browning and prevents sticking.
- Once the air fryer is preheated, place the steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between them for air circulation. If your air fryer is small, you may need to cook the steaks in batches.
- Cook the steaks in the air fryer for about 8-12 minutes, flipping halfway through for even cooking. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your steaks and your preferred level of doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130-135°F (54-57°C).
- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steaks. Remember, the steaks will continue to cook slightly after you remove them from the air fryer, so it’s okay to take them out when they are a few degrees below your desired doneness.
- Once the steaks reach your desired level of doneness, remove them from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and results in a juicier steak.
- Serve your air fryer steak with your favorite side dishes and enjoy!
