vegan buttery garlic naan bread
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons vegan butter (plus more for brushing)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh cilantro leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
- Heat a skillet or a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Roll out each dough ball into a circle or oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of vegan butter in a small saucepan or microwave, then add the minced garlic to infuse the butter with garlic flavor.
- Brush one side of the rolled-out dough with the garlic-infused vegan butter.
- Place the brushed side down on the heated skillet or pan.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles start to form on the surface and the bottom is golden brown.
- Brush the top with more garlic-infused vegan butter, then flip the naan and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
- Once cooked, brush the naan with more vegan butter and sprinkle with fresh cilantro leaves if desired.
