Ingredients:
1 cup long-grain rice (e.g., basmati or jasmine)
2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
1 small onion, finely diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
In a pot, heat butter or oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until translucent. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Add the rinsed rice and sauté, stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes until slightly toasted.
