Air Fryer Grilled Mushroom Melt

Air Fryer Grilled Mushroom Melt

Ingredients:

For the Mushroom Filling:

  • 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms (such as cremini or button mushrooms)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme (or fresh thyme leaves)

For the Sandwich:

  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or your choice)
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • Butter or margarine for spreading on the bread

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they start to release their moisture and become tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and dried thyme to the mushrooms, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
  4. Take your bread slices and butter one side of each slice.
  5. Place two bread slices, buttered side down, on a clean surface. On each slice, layer a slice of cheese, followed by the sautéed mushroom mixture, and another slice of cheese. Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
  6. Place the sandwiches in the preheated air fryer basket. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  7. Air fry the sandwiches for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. Carefully remove the sandwiches from the air fryer and allow them to cool for a minute or two.
  9. Slice the sandwiches in half diagonally and serve hot. Enjoy your Air Fryer Grilled Mushroom Melt!
