American biscuits

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
3/4 cup buttermilk
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the cubed butter to the flour mixture and use your hands or a pastry cutter to cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the buttermilk to the bowl and stir until just combined.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm).
Use a biscuit cutter or a round cookie cutter to cut out biscuits from the dough.
Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
Bake the biscuits for 12-15 minutes, or until they are lightly golden on top.
Serve the biscuits warm with butter and your favorite jam or honey.
