BAKED CAJUN CATFISH

BAKED CAJUN CATFISH

Ingredients:

  • 4 catfish fillets
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rinse the catfish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Place the fillets on a cutting board or a plate.
  4. Brush the catfish fillets on both sides with melted butter. This will help the seasoning adhere and keep the fish moist.
  5. Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning mixture evenly over both sides of each catfish fillet, pressing gently to help it stick.
  6. Place the seasoned catfish fillets in the greased baking dish, arranging them in a single layer.
  7. Bake the catfish in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets.
  8. Once cooked, remove the catfish from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
  9. Serve the Baked Cajun Catfish hot, garnished with lemon wedges and chopped fresh parsley, if desired. It pairs well with steamed rice, collard greens, or cornbread.
