Ingredients:
- 2 racks of baby back ribs
- 2 cups BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- Cooking oil (for grilling)
Instructions:
- Preheat your grill to medium heat.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). This will be your dry rub.
- Pat the racks of ribs dry with a paper towel. Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs by gently lifting it with a knife or your fingers and pulling it off.
- Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub, pressing it into the meat to ensure it sticks.
- Place the ribs on the grill, bone-side down. Cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender, flipping the ribs occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- In the meantime, prepare your BBQ sauce. If using store-bought sauce, you can simply heat it in a saucepan over low heat. If making your own, combine your preferred ingredients and simmer the sauce on the stove until it thickens slightly.
- Brush the BBQ sauce onto the ribs during the last 10-15 minutes of cooking, turning and basting them every few minutes to build up a sticky glaze.
- Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. This will allow the juices to redistribute and make them easier to cut.
- Slice the racks of ribs into individual portions and serve them with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
- Enjoy your delicious soul food BBQ ribs!
