Gammon cooked in Air Fryer

Gammon cooked in Air Fryer

Ingredients:

  • Gammon joint
  • Olive oil or cooking spray
  • Optional: herbs, spices, or glaze of your choice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Gammon: If your gammon joint is frozen, make sure to thaw it in the refrigerator overnight. Pat the gammon dry with paper towels. If desired, you can score the fat on top to help it crisp up during cooking.
  3. Seasoning: Rub the gammon with a bit of olive oil or spray it with cooking spray. Season with your choice of herbs and spices. You can keep it simple with salt and pepper or add flavors like garlic powder, thyme, rosemary, or paprika.
  4. Air Frying: Place the gammon joint in the air fryer basket, making sure there is space around it for air circulation. If your air fryer has a temperature control, set it to 375°F (190°C). Cook the gammon for about 20-25 minutes per pound (450 grams), flipping it halfway through the cooking time. The exact time may vary depending on the size and thickness of your gammon joint, so use a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C).
  5. Optional Glaze: If you want to add a glaze, brush it onto the gammon during the last 5-10 minutes of cooking. A glaze could be a mixture of honey, mustard, and brown sugar, for example.
  6. Rest and Slice: Once the gammon is cooked to perfection, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat moist.
