Homemade 1 Point 3 musketeer candy bars

Ingredients:

Nougat:

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons gelatin (unflavored)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Coating:

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (or sugar-free chocolate chips for a lower-point option)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the applesauce over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the gelatin with a small amount of water until it forms a thick paste.
  3. Add the gelatin paste to the warm applesauce, stirring continuously to dissolve the gelatin completely.
  4. Stir in the powdered sugar and continue stirring until the mixture is well combined.
  5. Remove from heat and add the vanilla extract. Mix well.
  6. Line a small baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  7. Pour the nougat mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it out evenly.
  8. Place the dish in the refrigerator and let the nougat set for at least 2-3 hours or until firm.
  9. Once the nougat is set, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth.
  10. Remove the nougat from the dish and cut it into bars.
  11. Dip each nougat bar into the melted chocolate, coating it completely.
  12. Place the coated bars on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate until the chocolate sets.
