No Knead Bread
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1.5 cups warm water (like hot from the tap but not BOILING hot)
1 tsp sugar
*2 tsp active yeast
1 tsp salt (I use 2 because we like salty bread)
**2 tsp Italian seasoning, optional
Splash olive oil
Mix all ingredients together with a wooden spoon to create a shaggy dough. Cover and let rise 2+ hours until dough has doubled in size.
Remove dough from the bowl onto a lightly floured surface. Scrape underneath with a flat spatula, or if you’re fancy, a dough scraper ????, and fold dough over onto itself to form a smooth ball. Place the ball into parchment paper and back into a bowl. Cover and let rise minimum 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 450°F and place Dutch oven with lid ON into the oven. Heat for 20-30 minutes.
Place dough with parchment into the hot Dutch oven (be careful, nobody has time to go to the ER today for a 3rd degree burn), cover, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove lid and bake about 5 more minutes or until it’s golden brown.
Remove from Dutch oven and place on a wire cooling rack.
*test your yeast if you’re not sure it’s alive by starting with warm water, yeast, and sugar first. It should be bubbly and foamy after about 10 minutes. If not, sorry but your yeast is dead ???? this step is not necessary but I recommend doing this so your entire project doesn’t get ruined.
**these are optional seasonings. You can also use garlic powder & rosemary which is delicious. Other options: fold in chives, finely chopped garlic, or make it sweet by adding cinnamon, sugar, and raisins. Play around with it!

• 1 1/4 teaspoons salt

• 1 1/2 cups warm water

Instructions:

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt.

Add Water: Pour in the warm water and stir until the mixture forms a shaggy dough.
3.
Let it Rise: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for 12-18 hours. The dough should double in size and be bubbly.
4.
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a Dutch oven or heavy pot with a lid inside to heat up.
5.
Shape the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into a ball. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.
6.
Bake: Carefully remove the hot pot from the oven. Place the dough inside, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the bread is golden brown.
7.
Cool: Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
