Ingredients:

For the Dough:
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm fat-free milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Filling:
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
For the Icing:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons fat-free milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add applesauce, egg, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  6. Brush the melted butter over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the butter.
  7. Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12 equal slices.
  8. Place the slices in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll.
  9. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.
  10. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the icing.
  11. Once the rolls have cooled for a few minutes, drizzle the icing over the top.
  12. Serve and enjoy your Weight Watchers-friendly cinnamon rolls!
