Air fryer Grilled Caprese Made w/ fresh tomato, Mozzarella & bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of good-quality bread (like ciabatta or baguette)
  • 2 large tomato slices
  • 2-4 slices of fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 2-3 fresh basil leaves
  • 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for a few minutes.
  2. While the air fryer is heating, assemble your Caprese sandwich. Place a tomato slice on one piece of bread, followed by mozzarella slices and fresh basil leaves. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Place the second slice of bread on top to create a sandwich.
  4. Brush the outside of the sandwich with olive oil. This will help make the bread crispy in the air fryer.
  5. Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket. You can use a small rack or tray to help prevent the sandwich from sticking to the basket.
  6. Air fry the Caprese sandwich at 375°F (190°C) for about 4-5 minutes. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn. You want the bread to be golden brown and the cheese to melt.
  7. When the sandwich is ready, carefully remove it from the air fryer using tongs or a spatula.
  8. Optionally, drizzle the sandwich with balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
  9. Serve your air fryer Caprese sandwich immediately while it’s hot and crispy.
