Easy air fryer french Fries
Ingredients:
- Potatoes (Russet potatoes work well)
- Olive oil or cooking spray
- Salt
- Optional: Seasonings like garlic powder, paprika, or onion powder for extra flavor
Instructions:
- Wash the potatoes thoroughly and peel them if desired. Cut the potatoes into evenly sized sticks or wedges, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Try to keep them as uniform as possible to ensure even cooking.
- Soak the potato sticks in cold water for about 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps make the fries crispier.
- After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel to remove excess moisture.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for a few minutes.
- Place the dried potato sticks in a bowl and toss them with a drizzle of olive oil or spray them lightly with cooking spray. Make sure the potatoes are evenly coated with oil.
- Arrange the potato sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t crowded. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Cook the fries in the air fryer for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them towards the end of the cooking time to prevent over-browning.
- Once the fries are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and season with salt and any additional seasonings you like.
- Serve the fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ketchup, mayonnaise, or aioli.
