Fried shrimp recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for added heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Tartar sauce or cocktail sauce, for dipping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine the dry ingredients.
  2. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. The oil should be about 1 inch deep.
  4. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, pressing firmly to adhere. Shake off any excess flour.
  5. Carefully place the coated shrimp into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to transfer the fried shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Repeat the coating and frying process until all the shrimp are cooked.
  8. Serve the fried shrimp while hot, garnished with lemon wedges. You can also serve them with tartar sauce or cocktail sauce for dipping, if desired.
