Keto Rolls Recipe
These Keto Rolls are a delightful low-carb alternative to traditional bread rolls. With a creamy, cheesy flavor and a fluffy texture, they make an excellent side for any meal or a satisfying snack on their own. Best of all, they are easy to make and ready in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients:
Servings: 12 rolls
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
- 1/4 cup cream cheese (softened)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 1/2 cups almond flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 large eggs (one for the dough and one for egg wash)
- Optional: Seasonings like garlic powder or Italian herbs for extra flavor
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Cheese Mixture
Begin by placing the cream cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the mixture in 30-second increments, stirring after each increment until the cheese is completely melted and smooth. This should take about 1-2 minutes total. Be careful not to overheat, as the cheese can become tough.
Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients
While the cheese is melting, combine the almond flour and baking powder in a separate large mixing bowl. Mix well to ensure the baking powder is evenly distributed throughout the almond flour. This step is crucial for achieving a well-risen roll.
Step 3: Mix the Dough
Once the cheese is melted, add the cheese mixture to the bowl with the almond flour and baking powder. Next, add the 2 eggs. Using a spatula or your hands, mix the ingredients until a dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but hold together well. If you want to enhance the flavor, feel free to add seasonings such as garlic powder, Italian herbs, or even a pinch of salt to taste.
Step 4: Shape the Rolls
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone mat for easy removal of the rolls. Pinch off pieces of the dough to form 12 equal balls. Each ball should be about the size of a golf ball. Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each roll for expansion.
Step 5: Apply the Egg Wash
In a small bowl, beat the remaining 1 egg. Using a basting brush, lightly coat the tops of the dough balls with the egg wash. This step will give the rolls a beautiful golden-brown color as they bake.
Step 6: Bake the Rolls
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and firm to the touch. The baking time may vary slightly depending on your oven, so keep an eye on them towards the end.
Step 7: Cool and Serve
Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. These rolls are best served warm and can be enjoyed on their own or with butter, cream cheese, or your favorite low-carb spread.
