Ingredients:
- 1 ribeye steak (approximately 1 inch thick)
- 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional seasonings (garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, or your preferred steak seasoning)
Instructions:
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes.
- While the air fryer is preheating, take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes. This helps the steak cook more evenly.
- Pat the steak dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. This will help achieve a nice sear.
- Rub the steak with a teaspoon or two of olive oil, making sure it’s coated evenly. This will help the steak brown and sear nicely.
- Season the steak generously with salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings you prefer. Make sure to season both sides.
- Place the seasoned ribeye steak in the preheated air fryer basket. Ensure there’s some space around it for proper air circulation.
- Cook the steak in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for about 12-16 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness and the thickness of the steak. Use the following as a rough guide:
- 12 minutes for medium-rare
- 14 minutes for medium
- 16 minutes for medium-well
- About halfway through the cooking time, flip the steak over with tongs to ensure even cooking. If you’d like, you can brush the steak with a bit more olive oil for added flavor and browning.
- Check the internal temperature of the steak with a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches your preferred doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of around 130-135°F (54-57°C). Adjust the cooking time if needed.
- Once the steak is cooked to your desired level of doneness, remove it from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute and results in a more flavorful and tender steak.
- Slice the ribeye steak against the grain, and it’s ready to serve.
