Skinny Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting

Skinny Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (1 package) reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons non-fat Greek yogurt
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Soften Cream Cheese and Butter:
    • Allow the reduced-fat cream cheese and unsalted butter to come to room temperature. Softening them will make it easier to blend.
  2. Beat Cream Cheese and Butter:
    • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add Vanilla Extract:
    • Mix in the vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.
  4. Gradually Add Powdered Sugar:
    • Gradually add the powdered sugar to the mixture. Adjust the amount to suit your sweetness preference. You can start with 1/2 cup and add more if needed.
  5. Add Non-Fat Greek Yogurt:
    • Incorporate 1-2 tablespoons of non-fat Greek yogurt to the frosting. This will add creaminess without as many calories as traditional recipes.
  6. Adjust Consistency:
    • If the frosting is too thick, you can thin it out by adding a little more non-fat Greek yogurt. If it’s too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.
  7. Optional: Add a Pinch of Salt:
    • If desired, add a pinch of salt to enhance the overall flavor. This step is optional and depends on personal preference.
  8. Beat Until Smooth:
    • Beat the frosting until it’s smooth and well combined.
  9. Use Immediately or Refrigerate:
    • Use the skinny vanilla cream cheese frosting immediately, or refrigerate it until you’re ready to use it. If chilled, let it come to room temperature before spreading.

Notes:

  • Adjust the sweetness and thickness according to your taste and the consistency you desire.
  • This lighter version of cream cheese frosting is perfect for topping cakes, cupcakes, or other baked treats.
